IriKan

IriKan, as the Osarians explained it, existed within each of the WoRs. The name
literally translates to "inner power", and is a trait exclusive to WoRs. Those
of the Astralis do not have IriKan of their own, but are able to recognize and
sense it in those who possess one.

When the WoRs arrived on Os'Karos they were immediately recognized. Loth'aros
and the High Priests viewed it as a blessing, and chose to explain the IriKans
to their new charges when they were still young. It was easier that way, to not
keep secrets, and to allow the WoRs to grow the bond between themselves and
their IriKan.

"
An IriKan is a piece of the Astralis. A fragment, a soul, that existed here
long ago. They now live within you. A separate part of you.
"
The Defenders

Marked with colourful black glowing markings, these IriKan were the spirits of
those who fought on the side of the Astralis. Those who stood against the
Invader, and set to free All Worlds from his war. They fought with the intent to
strike down the Invader and allow order to return to the Astralis.

They fought side by side with the fallen Astralis Pantheon, some succumbing to
the corrupting madness, but never strayed from their purpose. They were honoured
warriors. They died trying to save the Astralis. Heroes, until the end.
The Pacifists

Bearing marks that were half black and half colourless, these IriKan were the
spirits of the departed innocents. Those who chose not to fight for either side,
and tried to continue living in the Astralis as if nothing had been changed.
They did not believe that the Gods had fallen, and did not recognize the Invader
as a new one. They simply lived as they had, and chose to remain outside all
wars.

But the Invader did not accept their neutral stance. Their worlds were caught in
the battles, and they died, their innocent blood shed amongst the stars.
The Traitors

Colourless markings, for those who let their souls be remade by the deception of
the Invader. The white-marked were those who carried the souls of traitors, and
creatures who had been created by the Invader to make war with the Astralis.

They fought to take control of All Worlds, and spread their war across the
entirety of the Astralis. They died in the wars they started, and were remade
forevermore by the Invader, to continue their cycle of bloodshed.

They died when the Invader was struck down, but their souls cycled into the
Astralis. Like those who had kept their honour, the Traitors were somehow able
to reincarnate as IriKan.
There were no colourless Marks on the WoRs that lived on Os'Karos. All of them
only carried the marks of Defenders and Pacifists, and were not cursed to carry
the weight of betrayers.

IriKan exist as a secondary sentient presence in the mind of a WoR. They're a
separate entity, and they have their own personality and powers. They can speak
freely to their bonded WoRs, but are unable to speak to others. If they ever
wish to share their words with others, they're forced to have their WoR act as a
messenger in their stead.

The IriKan do not hold grudges against their WoRs. Most feel sadness, knowing
how their original lives had ended, and don't want to see their WoRs end up like
them. They want to protect them from the Invaders. To give them their strength,
so that they won't die in war.

Each WoR was taught from cubhood how to commune with their IriKan, and to trust
the judgement and instincts of their other-souls. When they reached adulthood
the WoRs were taught how to summon the power of the IriKan without needing an
emotional catalyst to do so. They could channel the IriKan's powers, or cause
the IriKan to temporarily manifest in the world and fight with them.

"
Ever by your side."
